Our charitable object is to&nbsp;<em>&#8220;promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment in and around Forest Town&#8221;<\/em>. The Trustees of the charity are: Shlomo Dowen (Chair), Lorraine Dowen (Vice Chair), Josh Dowen (Treasurer and Secretary), Alan Alberry, Mark Fretwell, Phil Goodall, Samantha Nicholson, and Dennis Platts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Events and Volunteering Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weather permitting, forthcoming Spa Ponds Volunteer Work Sessions (starting at 10 am) and other events include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Note: Not many sessions are planned during bird breeding season (March &#8211; September), apart from balsam pulling and surveying.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Friday 11th, Saturday 12th, and Sunday 13th September<\/strong> &#8211; Guided heritage walks around Spa Ponds as part of Heritage Open Day. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritageopendays.org.uk\/submission-event\/spa-ponds-nature-reserve-walk-through-a-thousand-years-of-history.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See entry on Heritage Open Days for booking link<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wednesday 16th September<\/strong> &#8211; Training in the collection of seeds from wildflowers with Isabelle (Izzy) Pass from the Sherwood Forest Trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Corporate volunteer organisers can <a href=\"mailto:spa.ponds@gmail.com\">contact us<\/a> if they want us to arrange volunteering at Spa Ponds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anyone interested in receiving training in the use of drones for aerial photography should contact FTNCG via: <a href=\"mailto:Spa.Ponds@gmail.com\">Spa.Ponds@gmail.com<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For work sessions we meet at the Clipstone Drive entrance to the Spa Ponds site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"border-style: dashed; margin: 0; padding: 5px; color: black; background: pink;\"><strong>Note: <\/strong>Unfortunately the car park at the Whitegates Hotel pub is currently unavailable. The work will also involve planting reeds and flowers around the ponds, removing some trees and branches to let more light in, and adding barriers to protect sensitive parts of the site. Some of this work has already begun, and more will take place early in 2023, with further planting in the Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Severn Trent Community Fund awards grant money to support community wellbeing by investing in people, places and the environment. FTNCG\u2019s \u2018Pipes, Paths, and Ponds\u2019 project was backed by the Sherwood Water Catchment Partnership, the Sherwood Landscape Partnership, and the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Co-op Member?
